A night at the Depoit 1984 Mix (Prince's friends, followers & competitors)

The depoit was a legendary club in 1980s based in Minneapolis. The Minneapolis sound was created by Prince, his followers and his competitors and introduced to the audience in this club.
For the people who have seen Prince's movie "Purple Rain" is easy to picture how special was this club.
The Minneapolis sound is the perfect example of "New Wave meets Funk". Sometimes sounds electro, sometimes Disco, sometimes sexy, sometimes POP, sometimes Rock and even phsychedelik.

From Minneapolis (Appart of Prince) I've included The Time, Vanity, Dez Dickerson, Andre Cymone and my alltime favorite Mazarati

I've added also artists from outside Minneapolis (but with a simmilar groove) such as Rick James, Imagination and The Stone City band.

I hope you'll enjoy.

Tracklist:
Prince - Intro
Andre Cymone - Neon Pussycat
Imagination - State of love
Good Question - Got a new love
Rick James - R U experienced?

Acid Jazz Breakbeats

Acid Jazz, an independent record label based in London, was a big influence in the late 80s and during the 90s.

The name of the label became a music genre, a symbol of the 70s Funk nostalgia who joined many different musicians, producers, MCs and Djs... such as Jamiroquai, DJ Greyboy, 4 Hero, Galliano, James Taylor quartet, The Brand new heavies, The Future organisation, Incognito, Freak Power with the DJ and Producer Norman Cook...(better known as Fatboy Slim).

During some time, Acid Jazz was considered as a non orinigal style, just a 70s revival, even confused with the Acid House movement.

Unlike this critical moment, Actually Acid Jazz made the first steps on 90s electronic music resurrection, creating the first intelligent way to use Old Skool samples, and creating the most avant-garde sound in the 90s. Nowadays still sounds contemporary, the label is still working and most of the artists are still rockin'.

Without classic hits, for this mix I've choosed electronic & groovy Acid Jazz underground artists, trying my best to mix it in a Funky Style. I hope u'll enjoy
